Constructed as a school house at the turn of the 20th century, it was transported by rail to Cooran, and then by horse and wagon to Kin Kin in 1920, where it was re-erected as the Wahpunga School house, with 11 students across several grades.

It was purchased and relocated to the current site in 1961 as the home of the Armitage family, who are central to Noosa’s early history, and stayed in the family until sold to the current owners in 2012.
