Barkly is in between Avoca and Ararat in the Pyrenees wine and gold country, about two and a half hours NW Melbourne. Stawell is about half an hour west.
It's lovely....rolling hills pretty much no one around, peace and quiet.
Arriving at the front gate there is a long, winding driveway up to the house which is positioned for the best views across the gently sloping paddocks, sprinkled with gums.
The timber house was built by the current owners in the 1980s for their weekend retreat and features their individual Aussie garden at the front, and just smacks of relaxed weekends and barbeques.
It's on just over 21 acres.
On enterering, it's all timber lined, really comfortable and well appointed with everything you need. The kitchen and bathroom are both well appointed with all the "mod cons". Mains power ( with solar ) lots of water tanks, a big verandah and a double car park. The timber interior gives a warm, welcoming feeling with benefit of practiclity and low maintenace.
There's a dam , with jetty, for swimming and I'll bet there's the odd Yabbie in there too. Four sheds, with one converted into a sleepout, with it's own wood heater.
I can't think of a better way to get out of town and de stress and forget the rush than here in Barkly.
