Ballindown (situated in Jacoby Street) was renamed in 1948 to Faversham- please note the property in Jacoby St is not for sale.

Ballindown Gardener’s Cottage is recognised as "significant socially, historically and aesthetically" on the Shire of Mundaring Municipal Inventory.

The current owners purchased the property in 1993 and have used it as a business premises (under a special agreement with the Shire of Mundaring). The current zoning for the property is Rural Residential 1.

Situated at a high point on Great Eastern Highway, the property comprises of 1,841 square meters. There are several mature trees of various varieties and established rose bushes which are believed to have been planted by Mr Atkinson in the 1920’s.

The Home

The weatherboard cottage is modest by today’s standards and offers the opportunity for the new owners to renovate and refurbish internally whilst retaining the timeless charm.

There are four main rooms – a sitting room, a bedroom, a bathroom and a large open plan area incorporating a basic kitchen. There are also two more small rooms that appeared to have been originally a verandah.

Some of the doors and windows feature stained glass and leadlight windows and there is a brick fireplace with a slow combustion heater. There is also a small pot belly heater in the large living area.

The Outbuildings

There is a small shed – partly weatherboard. At the back of the block there is an uncompleted studio constructed from brick with an iron roof.
