This project involves the installation of permanent bin enclosures designed in a heritage style at Brighton General Cemetery. These upgrades aim to replace the existing wheelie bins that are located across the site for public use. The project forms a key component of SMCT’s broader waste infrastructure improvements, which will enhance the site operations and maintenance, reduce landfill waste, lower costs, and reinforce SMCT’s environmental commitment to both staff and visitors. The initiative directly supports SMCT’s Environmental Strategy targets for waste and resource recovery: 1.25% by FY2025 2. 80% by FY2030 3. 90% by FY2050 A total of 30 bin enclosures are planned for installation, including 12 pairs of general and organic waste surrounds and 6 standalone general waste bins.
