This property is part of Homes Victoria’s Affordable Housing Rental Scheme. The program gives everyday Victorians access to modern, energy-efficient homes and stable housing at a more affordable rent.
Under the program, rents in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria are set at the lower of 30% of household income or 74.99% of the market rent.
The properties are rented under rental agreements up to 5-years to give renters more security. Renters may terminate their rental agreement at any time without penalty by giving the applicable written notice.
Many properties are located in diverse and thriving communities inclusive of public housing, community housing and private market housing. Common spaces provide opportunities for interaction and building connections.
Eligibility criteria:
• Total before-tax household income (for all members 18 and over) must fall within the income limits (see website)
• The primary renter must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
• The primary renter must currently live in Victoria
• No household member owns or has an interest in residential or commercial property unless in exceptional circumstances (see website)
Applicants must also meet the household size guidelines outlined on this website: https://www.homes.vic.gov.au/homes-victoria-affordable-eligibility
NOTE: AHRS properties do not qualify for Commonwealth Rent Assistance under current Commonwealth Government policy as the homes are owned by the Victorian Government.
