My work started as a Golf Pro. Having done my apprenticeship in Melbourne, opportunities came up to move overseas that allowed me to live in various parts of Europe for the best part of the next 13 years. It was the start of a dream come true.
When your hobby is your work, you have to go and find another hobby. So at the age of 22 I bought my first property which started a fascination that has intrigued me and surprised me in the same way that golf did. On returning to Australia, and having experienced considerable success in my first chosen career, venturing into Real Estate was a natural progression after my earlier property dabbling's and I have enjoyed the same level of success in my second career choice.
We currently live in Bli Bli on acreage, and were drawn to the Sunshine Coast for its lifestyle and weather. In my downtime I value spending time with my wife and kids at home. On our property I’m kept busy around the house and on the tractor, there’s always jobs to be done. We’re close to the beach so it’s nice to get down there for a relaxing walk - I really enjoy the change of pace. When I can, I play the odd Tournament…..now as a Senior, quite suitable for a proud Grandfather.
In real estate I'm often asked 2 questions and this is my general response:
What would you say to sellers contemplating listing their property? "Choose your Agent wisely. Look at their longevity within the industry and current status of the company they represent. The Agent’s knowledge & understanding of how to read the current market trends is invaluable."
What do you say to a potential buyer? "Be ready to buy. Know your budget. Know what you require in a home. Do some research on the areas that appeal. These are basic but vital questions that help the Agent secure your perfect home."
Being involved in the buying and selling of people's homes is a privilege that I feel honoured to do. Getting excited about appraising then negotiating someone's home I'm sure is about as exciting as chasing a little white ball for some people, but I couldn't think of a better way to spend the day.
