The township of Orbost is known for its friendliness, inclusiveness and community spirit. On Christmas Eve the main street is closed off. The service clubs provide activities and food and Santa brings lollies and an icecream for every child. After the festivities the entire town walks down to the park on dark towards the river to watch the fireworks and later all age groups mingle and chat.
