In my 30 years as an agent, this is one of the prettiest homes I have ever had the privilege to sell. Perched on an elevated flat 1 acre (on 2 titles) within a few minutes' walk to the centre of town, it overlooks the Boonah Township with absolutely stunning views across the Scenic Rim majestic hills. It truly is a rare find.
(Here's what the sellers have to say about this property)
Arguably one of the best properties in the village of Boonah. Set on 1 acre of elevated flat land, the property is located 750m from the High Street shopping precinct, putting it perfectly within walking distance of cafes, pubs and retail shops. This property has spectacular views overlooking the town centre and beyond to the Border Ranges, and stunning views look West toward Mt French and the undulating countryside and has even more views toward the surrounding hills in the East. The land sits on 2 titles with 2 street accesses. Both streets are no-through roads, maintaining the peace and tranquillity in all directions. If you want POSITION, POSITION, POSITION, then look no further!

The land
The home is situated on 1 acre of elevated land that is relatively flat, with views to the southern border ranges and additional views east and west. Aside from the home, there is a large shed that currently serves as a 2-bay garage. There are several mature trees - including 2 large Jacarandas and large pines - giving a park-like feel with plenty of shade for picnics. There is also plenty of room for friends and family wanting to camp close to town. There is an Australian native bee hive onsite, and pesticides have not been used on the property for over 5 years.
The history
The original house was a workers' cottage dating back to 1900. This section, which incorporates the current bedrooms, bathroom and hallways, has the original 6-inch hoop pine floors and VJ walls.
In the 1940s, a building from the Boonah Hospital was relocated and added to the rear of the house to serve as the family's kitchen and living room. It later became the surgery for the well-loved local vet, Dr Delroy.
In 1960, a renovation was undertaken to extend the house and modernise it. The living, dining and kitchen area of the house are in this area. This renovation included hardwood floors, horse hair plaster walls and an ornate ceiling. The windows are a classic 1960s-style single-pane design.
Recent renovations
Over recent years, several renovations have been made:
• The Hamptons style kitchen has been totally remodelled and opened up to the living area, bringing an abundance of light, connection and views (again) into the family centre.
• Counter tops are a brushed leather finish granite.
• All young Appliances – a brilliant SMEG gas hotplates/electric oven and Miele dishwasher.
• The house entrance has been relocated from the front to the back, providing a resort-style entry as you take in the Southern Border Ranges on approach. The original front landing now serves as a private high-set terrace for those early morning coffees or afternoon drinks with a view. It carries the travertine tiled floor, which is beautifully cool underfoot even on a hot day.
• The main bathroom has been fully remodelled and finished with the same travertine floor and wall tiles. The vanity flows on in the same cabinetry as the kitchen.
• A second bathroom has been added – incorporates the laundry and completes the granny flat
• A new gas hot water system was added to complement the kitchen electric hot water system
• The house has been freshly painted externally and internally
General rates are approx $2650 pa & water rates approx $1000 plus personal usage.
